You could have the lifters replaced, or if your head has the internal oil passages, you could replace those. If you wanted, you could do a ring job on the cylinders, or just replace them entirely. But really, just what do you mean by leaky head gasket. Were you losing compression, water or oil? If you did a compression test you should know if your rings are in decent shape and when you take the head off you will be able to tell if the cylinder walls are okay. But if not I would do the ring job on the pistons and hone the cylinders. If you have to go that far you might as well replace the main and rod bearings. All I would do though is check the head, relap the valves and stick it back on. The head gasket kit should have new valve stem seals in it so you'll want to put them on.
