I bought a used 95 900 SE last year from my brother - just as the warranty was expiring. It had 37,000 miles and so, because I like piece of mind, I bought a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. It is good for 5 years or until the odometer reads 75,000 miles and cost about $1200 from my local dealer. So far, I think I've had about $800 in warranty repairs (a couple of small things, and then an oil leak which took a weekend to repair - but I got a 2000 SAAB 9-5 for the weekend with rental covered by the warranty). By the way, the warranty is offered by a company I think is called Western Diversified. So, I'm still in the hole with respect to comparing repair costs against the price of the warranty. But, I also still have four more years for problems to pop up - without worrying about it. Just my $0.02 worth. Mitch G.
