Subject: Re: Teenager Buying a used car

I was 20 when I bought my '87 SAAB 900. Very beautiful car. The looks I got from driving my orange '72 Mazda 310 were certainly different than the admiration I get from the gazes when I'm in my SAAB. That aside, SAABs, like any finely tuned machines, require much care. Your mechanic bills will be higher than most other cars (except maybe a Porsche), when you're looking at an older SAAB. With this in mind, it might be a bad choice to play with and convert. SAAB is one of the world's greatest innovators when it comes to fuel economy and efficiency. As such, they have lots of little quirks that most people aren't prepared for. The engine is even mounted opposite to most "normal" cars. If you're successful with your conversion on a 900, however, please let me know.
