Hi Gunnar, While you're in the process of depleting Iceland's supply of available cylinder heads ;-) I'd like to build on the earlier set of questions: 10. When do you get overheating - while a) while standing still, b) while driving it a leisurely pace, or c) while caning the living s*** out it? a) may indicate a broken fan or electric thermostat switch - see my previous post b) may indicate flow problems in general (blockages somwehere), such as stuck thermostat on the front of the block. May be a good idea to disconnect a few pipes and flush out the system both ways, before starting on cylinder head no. 7. c) too much garbage in the radiator matrix. Or the replacement heads were already cracked and you were getting combustion gases mixing in with the coolant, resulting in more overheating, etc. 11. What does your temperature gauge do, through all of this? What about your fan? 12. If you've gone through six heads, I'll assume that some of them were cracked this past winter. Did you get better cooling then - or were things just as bad? Regards, Robert Gothenburg Sweden 1983 900GL 1999 9-3 200 once had a 1983 99GL on which I cracked the head due to broken fan . . . 4108 wrote: > Thanks for your prompt answer and helpfull hints. > > I thighten the heads according to the manual an use a > special torque wrench to measure the torque on headbolts. > The blokk is straight flat enough according to owners > manual.
