Luc, The time for service indicator on a UK model 9-5 (calibrated in miles) comes up at 400 miles before the Service is due. With a kilometer clock, it may well be set to come up at 1000km before the service is due. The idea being that it gives you time to check the car in for a service. It will disappear after (IIRC) 16 times of displaying (eg, after the engine has been stopped and started 16 times).
