Subject: How much more power?

My 96 900 SE 2.0T has the auto transmission. I've noticed over the years of reading the Saab brochures, and owning five Saab 900 models, mostly slushboxes (82, 87, 88, 94, 96) that the AT models usually have been detuned a bit (in torque terms anyway). I have always assumed that was because of some limitation of the automatic gearbox. So, if one wanted to make modest improvements in a car like mine - new chip, sports exhaust, etc. - how much additional power would be too much for the automatic? TIA /Geoff
