While I think the preferred transmission is the 5 spd, I believe one of
the biggest problems with the automatic transmissions is the owner's
lack of proper preventative maintenance. The fluid and filter should be
changed once every 24,000 to 30,000. Too many don't bother until
problems start showing up. By then it is too late. Take care of your
Aero and you should be okay. Good luck. It is a beautiful car.
