Slushboxes on 9K's have a history of dying at around 100k, and that demise means you'll need a rebuild costing $3K or more. I have never had an auto box, but there are plenty of testimonials over time on www.saabnet.com > 9K Forum. For kicks, leave a message there asking about auto tranny reliability. This doesn't mean you have a bad car, of course, or that the tranny will die tomorrow. But sometime between 80 and 120k it will likely fail. Changing fluid frequently and using a high-quality synthetic ATF may help, but there is no panacea as I see it.
