How did you connect your head unit to the amps? Did you use the high level (speakers) or were you able to fabricate a DIN to RCA adapter for the pre-out? I called Clarion and they were profoundly useless. Or did the McIntoshes come with DIN preamp in? If you had the adapter built, please let me know where. I live in the Tampa area and agree with you that most installers here leave much to be desired.
