Subject: Re: Classic 900: electrical gremlins

I had a problem somewhat similar to yours. I pulled into a shopping center and when I went to leave the '86 Saab 900 would not start. I checked the lights and they were fine. I "assumed" it was a relay or fuse. After a few attempts to start the car, the battery became drained. A jump start got me home, with symptoms similar to yours. It was the battery - it was less than 20 months old and just died! I "assumed" that because it was a relatively new battery that it could not possibly be bad - wrong. That was over five year ago. I replaced the battery. The Saab is still starting with one turn of key with the same alternator and bushing.
