You said a 900 S, low pressure turbo (91-94)? The exhaust noise is not very quiet on that car, I also was surprised how loud my 900 turbo was after changing the back muffler (org. Saab). It takes some time till all the exhaust wastes muffles the typically sport car sound and insulate connectors of the exhaust system.
