My '91 9000T A/C compressor has started to squeal. It is not the belt (darn) and is quit loud. It just started and I haven't run it (my daughter was driving and drove it about 15 minutes this way). I don't know the internal makeup, but I am afraid it is serious. A little background: 1) I replaced the hoses, seals, dryer and expansion valve last winter. The A/C was used for defrosting. I did all my own work and had the local gas station do the pump down and R-12 recharge. I am worried that they may have sucked out some of the oil during their work, but have no way to prove it. 2) If this has injested itself (along with a lot of my money), how do I remove the particles that may have made it into the condensor or evaporator (or do I need to worry about that, will the filter catch them) ? 3) What would you recommend for replacement, a rebuilt or new and any sources you can recommend? 4) Should I convert to R-34 ? If I do, why do some places sell conversion kits that are $170 and others for $28 ? Thanks a million for your answers ! JC
