I tried to remove the alternator without unscrewing it from the engine block, but it didn`t work. So I removed it completely with the mounting bracket. That was the easiest way, I think (I had no other idea). I thought about shortening the long bolt but when measuring the distances between mounting bracket and fire wall I have decided to use it with its original length, otherwise it would be too short for a secure fitting of the hexagon nut. So good luck when living with and repairing your Saab! Please excuse me for my terrible English, I hope you understand what I mean, sorry. Greetings Wolfgang
