Subject: 1200rpm Idle After Start

After starting, my engine (85 900 2.0 8-valve MFI) sputters, begins to idle at an optimal 875rpm, and proceeds to rev to 1000-1300rpm where it stays idling. I'm not sure whether this is normal for engine warm-up or whether this has to do with the fact that during the first few days of my owing the vehicle I would give it gas during starting to compensate for the sputtering (as though it were a carbureted engine, an idiocy on my part no doubt). But when I stop during driving, at lights, etc., it idles around 1000. Any suggestions? I have considered adjusting the injector but would appreciate advice first. Highbrow 85 900
