Hi, it was about 8 years since I removed mine, but I recall that I got it out by removing the alternator and mounting bracket *together*. The mounting bracket is attached to the engine block via three allen key bolts if I recall correctly. I think that using a ball-end allen key will make life easier. Hope I'm right about all this, but my info may be useless anyway: the car in question was a 1983 Saab 99 GL (8v of course). But with any luck the alternator may be fastened onto the engine the same way, so I hope the above may give a clue or two. Tell us what happens . . . Regards, Robert "Nate t.
