Subject: Re: Are Saab Turbos Problem Free?

> One thing >I read talked about turbos and that one article said the "A turbo >isn't worth mujch after the warranty runs out, so Saabs lose a lot of >their value quickly." It was listed in an MSN CarPoint Review of the >Saab. Has anyone had problems or not with their turbos? Recognizing that anything mechanical can fail at any given time, Saab turbos are considered to be very trouble-free. Of course, you do have to change the oil frequently, and preferably use synthetic to kccp the oil from coking in the turbo. Friend of mine runs a Saab/Volvo independent repair shop, and he replaces a couple of turbos a year-- My 85 900T had the turbo replaced (metal failure) about 150,000 miles ago. Dick in Falls Church
