Just bought an '89 900T 16 valve and I found a 30 minute hiway jaunt (75-80 MPH) gave a high temp reading on the gauge. Once I exited and drove locally, the temp returned to what I believe is normal - just a hair above halfway up the range. Should it be doing this? Is the gauge reliable?, as I find that when idling it for several minutes, the gauge will show a little above center, but will jump briefly towards the hot end just as I hear the electric fans come on. A few seconds and it'll drop back down, so I'm not sure if I should trust the gauge. I picked up a new thermostat, as I really don't know what I'll find in there when I open it up, but the car was obviously cared for - two mechanics have raved about its condition so far. Any thoughts? Dennis djmr26nopsamweb.net Putnam Co NY
