Well, GM's hand in my 1998 Saab doesn't seem to have affected it regarding the fact that it is reliable, and hauls ass better than any Saab I've seen before it's time. GM's ownership may not thrill me, but regarding pre 9-5 and 9-3 models, I don't think they are any less the Saab minus that V6 mess in the mid 90's.
