I bought a 1996 900 that had a minor oil leak, from a main SAAB dealer, under the warranty I got them to fix it and it turned out to be the transmission seal (it was transmission oil) since then its been as clean as a whistle. Doesn't fix your problem but a friend had exactly the same leak on his 1995 model, it may be a weakness or fault.
