I had something kind of similar. Everything was functioning fine, but the AC kept getting warmer. They refilled the compressor with freon, which only helped for about a week. Finally, they put this neon green dye into the freon and found that it was leaking onto the passenger floorboard. They replaced the AC evaporator ($1000 for both parts & labor) and all was well. Lot of money? Yes. Great car where almost everything is now perfect? Also yes. I don't regret the expenditure.
