Subject: Re: 9000 Aero Problem

My 87 9000S had NGK BCP6ES plugs, when I got it from the previous owner. I switched the the single electrode Bosch Platinum plug gapped at .028 and my 9000 ran fine, as had the 87 900S I owned just before it (Car was totalled). I have a Saabtech friend with an 87 9000T. He bought his 9000 new and does all of his own work. He was in aircraft maintenance for 24 years and his ASE certified. He tried a set of the Bosch +4 plugs in his first. After two months he told me noticed more power through acceleration and improved gas mileage from 350 per tank around town to 380 miles per tank. I put a set in my 87 9000S. I noticed a stronger power band through the gears, especially 3rd, 4th and 5th. I also noticed an increase in my gas mileage. I average 31 to 36 mpg on the road. The Bosch + 4 plug is a form of multi spark distribution. I like the plugs because you don't have to worry about a gap. Just check them about every 10,000 to 15,000 miles for tightness.
