Hmm....cool down guys..... Let me share my experiences.... 1. The strong recommendation to use only these NGKs is valid only for DI equipped cars. Ken (obviously) and others have reported good (or even better) results with other plugs as well. Ok? 2. The '91 and '92 9k models uses Lh242 and saabs DI/APC system. On these cars knockdetection is NOT done using the plugs/DI unit. The number one rule here is to use resistor plugs as this is what the DI unit needs. From listening to my friends in the swedish Saab turboclub, most (all) people seems to share my experience that the BCPR7ES plugs works best. Other plugs seem to create problems (wont name them cause I dont know exactky which ones). It is also very important to gap the plugs properly. Ok? 3. Trionic equipped cars 9k '93-'98 uses the plugs and DI unit for knock detection. This system has been tested/designed/configured for the NGK plugs. I have never, ever, heard of anyone who has had better result with plugs other than the spec NGKs. Many people have bought different sorts of very expensive magic plugs that promises gazillion extra bhp. The result? More power? No. Wavering boost, missfires etc etc.....Why spend more money on plugs than what is needed. As for all DI cars, its very important to gap the plugs properly. Ok? These plugs also work fine for extremely tuned cars. I usually recommend people to use nothing but these NGKs simply because we KNOW that these plugs work. Your car will work as specified if the rest of the car is ok. If you have a problem with missfires, wavering boost etc, troubleshooting is impossible/useless until you have these NKGs fitted, cause you will never know if its the new expensive plugs that causes the problems or something else. As for the Bosch plugs: I have never hear of anyone (ok maybe ONE) who has had good results with a Bosch plug in a DI car. Its as easy as that. I dont have anything against bosch plugs. I just know that my, and other DI saabs seem to work best with these NGKs. If anyone find the some kind of Bosch plugs to work better, hey, go ahead and use them. But if we are troubleshooting cars that doesnt work properly...naahhh... As for non-turbo cars, I have no real experience. But I wouldnt use anything else than the NGKs on them either. Why fix what is not broken? TGhosh, I would like to hear more about the improvements you have noticed? Ken, to make my comment valid, you will find my email address right after my name. And if you look closely on Gorans post, you will find his address there (in his post) as well. So I guess his comment is valid.
