Hi there, My 1988 900i 8v's alternator has just died. I bought a rebuilt alternator yesterday & went to remove my dead alternator but got stuck in the removal process when I couldn't remove a long bolt (hinge-bolt, I suppose you could call it - the one that the alternator pivots on when you adjust your belt tension). When I removed the nut, I was able to extract the bolt part-way but the head of the bolt hit the firewall (with much of the bolt still running through the sleeve of the alternator), which prevented me from being able to remove it!!! I am very frustrated now as my car is completely dead. Does anyone have some advice as to how to proceed? thanks in advance! Rick
