Subject: Re: Oil Consumption?

I have two classic 900s, one an '85 900 8-valve 4-door 5-speed, and the other an '87 900S 16-valve 3-door automatic. Each has around 128K miles, and have had their oil changed every 3,000mi or 3 months, whichever comes first. Both cars only show less than a 1/4 quart, possibly less, consumption between oil changes. Oil is 10W-30 Valvoline. The Saab 4-cylinder is a very well designed and venerable engine. It's not unusual for these engines to reach 300K miles before rebuild (with proper maintenance), and with little or no oil consumption. Don Allen Urbana, IL
