Subject: Surging----check engine light blinking

My 89 900s is sick. About a month ago, the check engine light started flashing. This flashing was minimal and not accompanied by any problems. My dealer said not to worry about it until the engine actually demonstrates problems. It is now doing so. It is surging terribly, the best way to describe it. It's like a cylinder or 2 are cutting in and out. It kind of jerks along. It must be something in the ignition or fuel injection system. Where to check? I'd like to at least take a stab at finding the problem myself before paying my dealer the big SAAB bucks. I replaced the fuel pump and injection computer recently. Dave Hartwick Chambersburg, PA
