Subject: How do I get alternator out of 900 turbo 16-V?

Hi, The alternator quit (at only 210,000 miles) in my '86 900turbo. The manual says just remove bolts and twist the unit out. Things in there are really tight. Does anyone have any advice on taking this unit out? I've got the voltage regulator off the back of the alternator and I have new brushes for it but I can't get the old brushes out. Once again, following the manual, does not seem to loosen when I melt the solder. Please e-mail me 'cause my connection to newsgroups does not always work (post as well). Thanks in advance, Charles. -- Charles Stoyer Golden CO
