I noticed that when I visited the Saab stand at last year's Earl's Court motorshow. According to one of the Saab staff "no-one buys tapes these days so we switched to the CD player". I wasn't impressed with the 'wooden' dashboard on the 9-3 SE either as it looks tacky compared to some of the third party kits on sale. My 900 ,which I won't be changing for at least another two years, has the older stereo with the optional CD autochanger in the boot so for the time being I've got the best of both. And you're right the older model with the speaker upgrade is an excellent stereo. Kevin Lee home page:www.keltia4.co.uk
