Which car manufacturers are are trying to replace anything with MiniDiscs? I can't find it as being available in any car model that I am looking at. While I agree that cassetes won't die soon, I find MD's less expensive, more compact and much more durable than cassettes. I started switching to minidisc after having several cassettes break in my car deck when I wanted to listen to something. I will admit that the cassettes I was using were old, but they didn't have nearly the one million record/play cycles that MDs are rated for. Three MDs take up less space than one cassette, and they can hold up to 7 1/2 hours of material (mono). Even in stereo, the 3 1/4 hours of playing time is 50% more than what the longest cassette can hold....and with MD you don't have to wait 10 minutes fast forwarding if the part you want to hear is at the end of the tape. Cassettes will be around for awhile; but then again I still have some LPs around too!
