If your battery cover is getting hot, and the battery as well, you have a short circuit problem -- which is potentially very dangerous. Check the "key off" current draw from the battery. I'm not certain what the current spec should be in the new cars with all of the CPU's and memory circuits, but on the classic 900s, the quiescent "key off" current draw from the battery was in the 180ma range. You should use an ammeter in series with the battery terminal and the battery cable. Otherwise, I would immediately have this specific item inspected by a good technician, otherwise you could be in for major problems. Sincerely, Don Allen Urbana, IL
