I had a similar problem with 87 9000T. It turned out to be the servo motor that moves the blend air door from cold to hot, and all points in between. There was a bad solder connection, on the circuit board, inside the servo housing. This is with the automatic climate control this car has. Not sure if yours is equipped with that. I repaired it but I think I have a timing problem with the blend air door and the controls for the direction of air through the various vents. If you have to take one of these servos apart pay close attention to the position of the gears. I would like to correct that if someone else has experience, or knowledge about that!
