I have two classic 900s: an '85 900 base 4-door sedan with the 8-valve engine with 126K, and an '87 900S 3-door hatch with the 16-valve engine with 127K. A few observations on both: The '87 is superior to the '85 in terms of rust. Although the '85 has very minimal rust -- only in the stereotypical places: the passenger front door around the sealing rubber near the right-bottom, the lower left front fender where the plastic wheel-well trim meets the first rubber body side trim piece, and a bubble starting on the right side of the hood -- the '87 has absolutely none. Both have been mechanically trouble-free, with the exception of the normal rack replacement on the '85 -- just last week. Except for normal maintenance, including oil changes religously every 3K, no other problems. Don Allen Urbana, IL
