hello, and thanks for an informative newsgroup. i recently purchased an 83 900 turbo with the sports package (apc? aps?). #1 the car has been sitting for apx. one year. the reason it was parked was due to overheating. well, i done some poking around with my ohm meter and found one of the fans grounded (burnt) and replaced it and a relay, and now it comes on just fine. damn problem is: the car won't crank. the fan comes on with the key, so i know it's working, but... when the car was parked, i personally backed it off the ramps, and know it was running, but it has sat for so long i'm thinking that the injectors either bled down or the fuel pump isn't pulling. it has the transparent hoses running to the injectors, and they are free of fuel. where is the fuel pump on these models? being injected i am thinking in tank. how do i go about determining what the problem is with the fuel system? does the pump come on with the key, or does it come on when the key is moved to 'start' position and remain on? i tried taking the banjo fitting off of the inline filter, it had some pressure to it when i unscrewed it. i then turned the key on, and no fuel. i then turned the motor over, and still no fuel. i have spark, i have compression (removed plug), but i am missing fuel. #2 there is a rocker switch (off/on) behind the shifter, in front of the key switch. function? #3 the shifter assembly itself, is loose and wants to turn, as in unscrew. anyone know of a decent bolt-in performance shifter? #4 a yellow box, up under the drivers dash, with adjustable pots, has a board in it with resistors. looks like something to do with setting idle speed? function? #5 interior upholstery. anyone? headliner (sunroof equipped)? red? i would like to thank anyone answering any of these five questions in advance. i know your time is important, and your commitment to one marquee is to be commended. got a pontiac question, please let me know. my grandfather use to have one of those old 3 cylinder Saab's, to which my young five year old self use to refer to it as a Sub... :) positively, william -- And you shall by a stranger in thine own city, thy neighbors filled with contempt.
