Hi I agree that Saab has cupholders that aren't working, but the cupholder isn't the esential part of the car. I agree that most european cupholders are useless. Like the one's in Volvo. For sunglasses there are several aftermarket products which can be used to achieve good results. As for me there are no need of cup holders because I travel with someone, but I see that there's a problem for those who drive by themselves. As for storages, Saab 9-5 has a ventilated glove-box, which works great in the summer and Saab has the safeseat construction in the trunk. As for the open storages and cup holders Saab has always thought of safety. If an example coin is effected in the collision it gets lots of kinethic energy and that way it can harm passangers in the car. So almost every storage in saab has been designed that the object is fastened tightly. As for carage door opener, why don't you but some velcro in the place you want to put it or a magnet.
