Subject: Dead Radio-Cassette Player - please help!

Dear All, A funny thing happened on the way home from work tonight - the radio- cassette player died in the middle of an interview with Ann Widdicombe. Whilst I can appreciate the political comment that this implies, I am at a loss to know how to solve the problem. Make and Model: The radio-cassette player is a Goodmans GCE 379, which had previously been working fine. Symptoms: Sudden and complete loss of any sign of life in the radio-cassette player, whilst it was on. Motorised aerial retracted, but does not now go up or down when radio is switched on. Main radio fuse not blown. Background: Had to replace a cracked windscreen today (but I can't see what this could do to the radio). Radio died at around the same time as I dipped my headlights. Is there a secondary fuse in the body of the radio-cassette player itself? That seems the most likely problem to me, but I don't want to go pulling the radio to bits until I am sure there's nothing else I can do. Can anyone help me? Please? I've a long drive ahead of me this weekend, and I don't want to have to do it without music... ATB -- Mike Saab 9000S, 2.0i 156,000 miles and counting...
