Surface rust can be prevented, which is why my '82 Volvo is still remarkably rust-free. The problem with my '86 Saab was the rust started from the spot welds from the repair work after an accident. Obviously, the body was not dipped in zinc chromate after the repair, as this was a factory process. This rust started between the body panels and spread. The lesson I learned from this accident is that the traffic laws are not always logical. I pulled out of a side street at night and was struck by a car running without lights. Running at night without lights is less of an offense than pulling out in front of someone. I guess I was supposed to have my night vision or radar activated in order to see a car coming down the road without lights. saabsternopsameja.com wrote: > OK, but rust can be prevented.
