I do not know what is worse... a chance at dried up seals or a replacement of the A/C unit when the bearings die... My suggestion (take it or leave it) is to have the ACC come up in econ mode which does not run the A/C and run it when you need it. As for the 9k window misting... what? Does it smell like coolant? (maple syrupy) It sounds like the dreaded heater core leak... use a bit of bars leak. I would think that bacteria would have a hard time living without water.
