I admit to being an alt.autos.saab lurker for 2+ years. Please don't hold it against me! :) I'm on Saab #2 and it is a 1987 900 Turbo with an automatic. (It was a GREAT deal, ok? 'til now maybe..... depending on the advice I get here anyways! :) ) Here's the particulars: 1987 Saab Turbo w/ 143,000 miles. Transmission replaced three years ago, about 45,000+ miles. Here's the trouble: Tonite driving home, it won't shift past first. It feels like it wants to, but nothing "grabs". If I rev the engine up it still "grabs" in first. I've checked the fluid. (Tranny & engine warm, stopped engine, check stick, its right up to the high mark on the WARM indentations / markings.) I'm understand this is a BorgWarner 3-speed automatic transmission. Can the filter be changed in this transmission? Can the bands be adjusted? I was hoping to get some input tonite, so I could get a real feel for what the dealer / repair shops are gonna be talking about when I call. I've only had the car a coupla weeks and its behaved VERY well... up until now. I've heard about how weak and undesireable the Saab 900 automatics have been, but I was HOPING it was mainly because they were just low geared and didn't have overdrive. I look forward to the helpful advice I have seen come from this group! \ Mike T. / SLC, Utah
