Subject: "Winding in" a timing chain

Hi, I've got a 9000 with 140 000 miles on it, lovely car but there's no mention of a timing change in the service book (all other services stamped and even done a few miles early) I have heard tell that you can wind in a new chain rather than go through the whole palaver of the normal replacement procedure - my wifes 9000 cost about £500. So, anyone done this, how much does it cost and is it worth it. I don't begrudge spending the money if it's necessary to do the whole shebang, but if I can put it off a couple of years that would help. Cheers Tony
