You can isolate whether it is the bores by pouring some oil down the spark plug hole and rechecking compression. If it brings the comression up considerably then the cause is the bores. However, I'd suspect valves or head because bores last a long time on Saabs and all four would probably show a low compression. Symptoms of blown c/h sometimes include loss of water/bubbling of water, water in the oil and oil in the water. Valves do burn, but not that often. Alan.
