Subject: Re: Redline gearbox oil??

What about Saab's own synthetic gearbox oil? Saab specifically permits using this oil in the NG900 transmission if you first fill, run for a bit then dump and refill (basically flushing out whatever was in there). I have the Saab synthetic in my 9-3 (factory fill) and cold weather shifting is not a problem. I used MTL in my old 900 and found that it was just too slick to permit smooth shifting in warm temperatures. Basically the syncros failed to work properly due to the low friction. Yes I know what Redline says on their web site but I only had problems. Another issue is that there are a number of 9000 owners which claim that MTL killed their transmission. In article <8FF897F99paulhutchingsgmxnetnopsam8.69.72>, paul.hutchingsnopsamnetNOSPAM says... > I've been getting a little stiffness in the gearbox of my 1995 Saab 900i > when cold, and it's been suggested to change the gearbox oil.
