Subject: Re: 900's road-holding always bad?

>So I'm asking you people: Is a Saab 900i known for it's bad road-holding? Ah, no! I have a 1986 900 and it handles exceptionally well. Especially at high speed. On race tires, you can flick it into a moderate curve at 100 mph and it is just as solid as at 30. I have tweaked the suspension to make it neutral, although the standard (not "sport chassis") suspension with standard alignment and tire pressures will produce understeer. >And if not, what can I do more to fix this problem? First thing to check is your alignment. Toe-in settings, in particular, can produce the problems you describe. Some mechanics are not aware of specific requirements for this model, so make sure to read the article about it on www.townsendimports.com. Unfortunately, their site is down, so I can't give the exact URL :( You can find it under "Technical Documents", "Suspension". Other things could be wrong. The frame could be bent, control arms can be bent, the rear axle could be bent, the ball joints could be worn, or the tie-rods... There are many things that could cause instabilities that you describe. Vlad.
