It could possibly be the caliper not releasing properly and still being in contact with the rotor. I have an 88 SPG and my E-Brake cable (on the rear wheels, same as yours) is slightly stuck. I hear a whump when turning to the right. Lift the car on that wheel and see if the tire spins freely or if it has some drag. Make sure you're in neutral.
