Subject: Re: Bleeding clutch line

Greg, This is an inherent problem. I have had the best success with the following: Find a plastic cap that fits the reservoir. Make a hole in the center of it and insert a length of rubber tubing. (old vacuum hose will do nicely) Seal the tube in the hole. (I use a small washer, inserted into the tube on the inside of the cap and pulling the tube tightly onto the hole) Get someone to help you. You blow into the tube, pressurizing the system while your helper opens the bleed valve. Use clear tubing to save the brake fluid so you can see the liquid and any air bubbles escaping the valve. When you see no air bubbles, close the valve. Repeat until you are sure of having no air in the system. Be sure to check the rubber hose in the line to the slave cylinder. Changing it and using new clamps may eliminate the source of air being sucked into the system when you release the clutch peddal. Make absolutely sure you use DOT-4 brake fluid. I hope this helps.
