First, call the previous owner and ask/thank them kindly, regarding
what they must have known about.

A few things - put a clean piece of cardboard under the car overnight.
Do you see any coolant-colored drips? If so, try to figure out
where it's dripping from. Could be the water pump (there is a
weep hole which lets coolant drip if the seal goes, it does this
so you notice that the seal is gone before coolant destroys the
water pump bearing). If not there, of course check the various
hoses all over & see if you can find the drips.

Having the system pressure-tested may be necessary if you can't
find a leak yourself.

However - if you aren't seeing a drip, it may be going out the
exhaust, due to a head or head-gasket problem. If you run the
car when it's low on coolant, you may end up with a head problem
even if you didn't have one before.

If you give us more information, we may be able to help further.

Hope this helps,
Dave Hinz
