Subject: Re: Noisey valves on start-up

When I bought my 1991 900i 2.1l 16V (with 256.000 km), I was alarmed also when I first started the car. It sounded like a diesel engine. According to the dealer it was normal, but I was sceptic. Nevertheles I drove the car for more than 10,000 km without any trouble. The diesel sound is still there but after 3 to 5 min driving, depending on the outside temperature the sound will become less. I noticed the same sound on other SAAB's with the 16V engine. So in my opinion do not worry and enjoy driving your SAAB.
