Thanks for the advise. I'll have to pay more attention to the type of oil I use in the car. I usually just get whatever is in stock at the local garage ! Never even considered that a change from standard would afffect anything ( well I did say I wasn't a mech !!) reading some of the other post here confirms that I'm going to be spending a lot more time with a haynes manual than I thought.
