The 2.3 engine is somewhat noisy when pushed hard between about 3700 and 5000 rpm. It's just a function of the quite highly tuned state of the engine, but it was very noticeable when I moved to a Saab from a 3.8litre six cylinder Holden. Most of the time though, the engine is quiet and smooth, and if the engine is noisy all the time, I would be a little wary. > > 02. At that mileage, check the engine mounts. Is there any excessive vibration when the car is idling? The Saab uses fancy hydraulic mounts which are extremely good but are quite expensive to replace.
