There was a small cover on the back side of the caliper. When you removed that cover, you could put an hex key in the hole and turn it to retract the caliper. I can't remember what size key but it sure made the job easy. I'd look on the back of the caliper to see if the 900 has either the same caliper or one with a similar retractor. Good Luck. I had a 1977 900 years ago but sold it for the 9000. I can't remember how those worked. I remember thinking how cool the 9000 caliper was so I'm guessing the 900 was the old twist-in type. Paul
