Subject: Re: 1986 Saab 900 Radio Wiring Diagram, Anyone?

I had to replace my head unit recently and found that the multi-block had been savaged by a previous installation, leaving all the wires removed from the block and connected to the head unit with metal connector terminals. The internal wiring in my Saab 900 is as follows: Harness #1 - Power Grey (Pin 1) - Battery +12v Red (Pin 4) - Switched +12v Black (Pins 5, 9, 10) - Ground Green (or Blue) (Pin 6) - Antenna/Remote Trigger Brown & White (Pin 8) - Dash Illumination Harness #2 - Speaker Output Green (Pin 1) - Left Front (-) Brown (Pin 2) - Left Front (+) Blue (Pin 4) - Right Front (-) Red (Pin 3) - Right Front (+) Green & White (Pin 5) - Left Rear (-) Brown & White (Pin 6) - Left Rear (+) Blue & White (Pin 8) - Right Rear (-) Red & White Pin 7) - Right Rear (+) Wire Colouring for Standard ISO Head Units: Blue Aerial / Amp Remote Red Accessory (Ignition) Live Black Ground Yellow Permanent (Battery) Live Orange Illumination (Side/Dash Light Circuit) Grey Front Right Speaker + Grey / Black Front Right Speaker - White Front Left Speaker + White / Black Front Left Speaker - Green Rear Left Speaker + Green / Black Rear Left Speaker - Violet Rear Right Speaker + Violet / Black Rear Right Speaker - My installation combined the yellow and red wires from the back of the head unit into a single connection to the battery live (grey wire) in the car - I can listen to music with the ignition off. CODE head units will need the yellow wire from the head unit to be connected through a fuse to the ignition live (switched live red wire) in the car. If you need to do any wire connecting yourself, make sure you are using 15 amp connectors. Mine were 5 amp capable, so I had to remove them all and install 15 amp capable connectors. This did invole removing the dash because I do not have small girly hands and simply couldn't get in there. Just a little grumble to the previous? owner :) Hope this helps you. in article 3aec6b93.7661624nopsam.ix.netcom.com, dernon_rutonnopsamrsect.com at dernon_rutonnopsamrsect.com wrote on 29/04/2001 20:30: > Can anyone provide a diagram or description of the wiring schema for > the 1986 Saab 900?
