Hm, interesting reply. I wonder if the recovery service used a starting battery with stable a voltage or just used some power supply transformer. If your battery had gone, then it will provide very little buffering of the supply voltage. Computer chips etc. are very sensitive, but with modern electronics it is very easy to build in adequate protection around them. Presumably, car electronics is designed for a harsh environment. Personally, I have never had problems with jump starting from another car battery.
